GAME: Dallas Stars (27-21-10-0) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (19-24-8-7).
TIME: Monday, 8 p.m. EST.
Despite getting points in bunches of late, the Dallas Stars are still not where they want to be in the Western Conference standings.
The Stars will try to bounce back from their first loss in nine games when they meet the disappointing Anaheim Mighty Ducks at the Arrowhead Pond.
Dallas had its eight-game unbeaten streak (6-0-2) snapped with a 3-2 loss to Phoenix on Saturday.
Pierre Turgeon and Brenden Morrow had power-play goals and Marty Turco made 18 saves for the Stars, who are tied with Los Angeles for sixth in the conference, four back of Calgary with 24 games to play.
The Stars, who trail first-place San Jose by six points in the Pacific Division race, will conclude their three-game road trip at Los Angeles on Wednesday before returning home for an eight-game homestand.
"That's a big one we missed (Saturday)," Morrow said. "With San Jose winning in overtime, that's four points for us.
"That one hurt."
The Stars lost despite outshooting Phoenix 34-21 and stopping five of the Coyotes' six power-play opportunities.
"We have to win. It's as simple as that," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "We dug ourselves a hole and we tried to crawl out, but the bottom line is we didn't get all the way out.
"We need wins, not just abouts."
The Mighty Ducks are coming off a 2-1 win over Vancouver on Saturday. Sergei Fedorov became the first Russian-born player to amass 1,000 NHL points.
Fedorov reached the milestone three minutes into the second period when he assisted on Anaheim's first goal. He added another assist on Petr Schastlivy's game-winning goal.
"It's one of those things you didn't really expect it. It's very personal," said Fedorov, who was born in Oskov, Russia. "It's been a long road. Hopefully, I got a few more to go."
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, starting for the second straight night, made 34 saves for the Mighty Ducks, who have won three of their last four games but remain in last place in the Pacific Division.
