Avalanche-Mighty Ducks Preview

GAME: Colorado Avalanche (10-6-2) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (7-8-4).

TIME: Friday, 10:30 p.m. EST.

Wins and goals and have both been in short supply lately for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Anaheim will try to avoid its longest losing streak in nearly eight years when it faces off against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Ducks lost their sixth straight game, 4-2 on Wednesday to the Dallas Stars. Anaheim has not dropped seven straight since March 1-13, 1998.

The loss to the Stars marked the first game for newly acquired right wing Tyler Wright and the return of defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh.

Wright, picked up with Francois Beauchemin Tuesday in a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets for six-time All-Star center Sergei Fedorov, played nearly nine minutes and had one shot on goal.

"You try not to think about it, but of course it's in your head that you've lost a great player," Anaheim wing Teemu Selanne said. "We're professionals and we just have to put it aside. Trades happen in this business."

Wright has just two goals and three assists in 20 games versus the Avalanche.

Ozolinsh missed nine games with a fractured rib. He was minus-2 with two shots on goal in almost 15 minutes of ice time.

A former member of the Avalanche from 1995-2000, Ozolinsh is averaging nearly a point per game in his career against Colorado.

The Ducks haven't scored more than three goals in a game since their last win, 4-1 on Nov. 1 against the Nashville Predators.

The Avs are looking for their third road win in four games. Rookie right wing Marek Svatos scored twice in Colorado's 3-1 win Wednesday over the Phoenix Coyotes.

"It's a case of being at the right moment at the right spot," said Svatos, who leads Colorado with nine goals.

Colorado's 73 goals is good for second in the Western Conference behind the Detroit Red Wings, but the Avalanche do not have a player who has reached double-digits in goals.

Longtime Colorado center Joe Sakic has 16 goals and 22 assists in 36 games versus Anaheim.
