Mighty Ducks-Kings Preview

GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (21-16-9) at Los Angeles Kings (29-18-3).

TIME: Monday, 10:30 p.m. EST.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere is returning to his old form and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks are enjoying the rewards.

Giguere will likely get the chance to lead the Mighty Ducks to their third consecutive win for the first time in nearly two months when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.

Giguere made 30 saves en route to his first shutout of the season and 20th of his career, a 1-0 victory Saturday over the Florida Panthers, to improve to 4-0-2 in his last six starts.

"A shutout is a team thing, not a goalie thing, and everybody needs to contribute to get a shutout," said Giguere. "The guys did a great job making sure I would see the puck. I didn't have too many difficult situations, and that's the way I like to play."

The shutout followed a 4-3 win over Ottawa on Thursday in which Giguere turned away all three Senators in a shootout.

The 28-year-old netminder, who was sidelined earlier in the season with hamstring and groin problems, has struggled when playing in Los Angeles. Gigeure has lost three straight, allowing 10 goals in that span, and is 1-5-2 in his career there.

Anaheim has won back-to-back games with Giguere in net for the first time since a four-game stretch from Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Rookie Chris Kunitz scored 29 seconds into Saturday's game off an assist from Ruslan Salei, who notched his 100th NHL point.

"We were just trying to get pressure on them and by chance the puck bounced my way and went in the net," said Kunitz, who has scored in three straight games. "We tried to build on it early and Giguere got us the win."

The Kings are looking for something to build on after their fifth loss in seven games with a 4-3 overtime defeat Saturday to the San Jose Sharks.

Los Angeles gave up the game-tying goals with 29 seconds to play in regulation before the Sharks' Patrick Marleau tallied the game-winner with 8.9 seconds to play in overtime.

"Our team worked hard, we are thoroughly disappointed we didn't get the two points that was there for us," said Kings coach Andy Murray.

Joe Corvo tallied a goal and an assist while Jeff Cowan and George Parros also scored for the Kings, who tied a season-low with 18 shots on goal.

The Kings have won four in a row and are 9-1-2 in their last 12 home games against Mighty Ducks.
