GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (25-18-10) at Edmonton Oilers (29-18-7).
TIME: Monday, 9 p.m. EST.
The Edmonton Oilers look to continue to frustrate the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
The Oilers have won 10 straight at home against the Ducks and are 14-2-1 in their last 17 games against them overall, including a 6-3 win Jan. 25 in which Giguere's frustration got the better of him.
Giguere received 16 minutes in penalties after becoming enraged by Ryan Smyth's play in front of the net, and twice chased down Smyth while also giving up five goals on 25 shots.
"I've never seen a guy implode like that at this level, especially in a game so meaningful to his team," Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said of Giguere's actions. "It was very selfish of him."
Giguere had spent the last four Ducks' games on the bench thinking about how he embarrassed himself, before returning to the ice in Anaheim's 2-0 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.
The 2003 Conn Smythe Trophy winner stopped 34 shots to post his second shutout of the season and the 21st of his career.
"I thought I owed one to my teammates after the way things went against Edmonton," said Giguere. "I was a little bit ashamed of myself (and felt) a bit childish about how I overreacted. My wife said I acted like a 2-year-old."
Giguere's two shutouts have come in his last four starts. He is 2-8-1 all-time against the Oilers.
Teemu Selanne scored team-leading 26th goal into an empty net with 32 seconds to play, giving him eight goals and 13 assists in a 14-game points streak. It is his longest streak since a career-high 17-game point streak from Feb. 3-March 10, 1999.
The nine-time All-Star has scored three goals in two games against the Oilers this season.
Edmonton snapped a five-game home losing streak with a 3-1 win Saturday over the Vancouver Canucks.
"To get the win at home means so much more," said Jarret Stoll, who scored his first goal since Dec. 31. "We have to keep building."
The Oilers outshot the Canucks 15-1 in the third period and 40-17 overall, to improve to 5-0-0 against their division rival this season.
The win also moved Edmonton within two points of Vancouver and the Calgary Flames, who are tied for first place in the Northwest Division.
"It's a big win. I can't argue that," MacTavish said.
Backup goalie Mike Morrison, making his third start in four games in place of Jussi Markkanen, made 16 saves en route to his third straight win.
Markkanen has lost four of his last five starts, but is 5-0-0 with a 1.04 GAA and two shutouts in his career against the Ducks including one in his NHL debut Nov. 28, 2001.
