Coyotes-Mighty Ducks Preview
Anaheim Ducks vs. Phoenix Coyotes

GAME: Phoenix Coyotes (29-31-4) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (30-20-12).

TIME: Sunday, 8 p.m. EST.

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks look to extend their points streak against the Phoenix Coyotes to 12 games when the teams meet in the back end of a home-and-home series at Arrowhead Pond.

Anaheim is 8-0-2 with one tie in its last 11 meetings between the teams and hasn't lost in regulation to the Coyotes since a 2-0 setback on Oct. 12, 2003.

The Ducks lead the season series 5-0-1, including a 3-0-0 mark at home in which they've outscored the Coyotes 14-6.

Anaheim enters this game two points behind Edmonton for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, while Phoenix is in 12th place and 10 points behind the Ducks.

Rob Niedermayer snapped a long scoring drought with two goals and Jonathan Hedstrom had a goal and two assists in the Ducks' 5-3 win over the Coyotes on Saturday.

Niedermayer hadn't scored a goal since Dec. 18, a span of 22 contests.

"It's been a little frustrating for me the last little while," he said. "It's nice to contribute like that."

Teemu Selanne collected his team-high 28th goal to help improve Anaheim to 9-3-2 since Jan. 26.

Selanne has 12 goals and 20 assists in his last 26 games. His 480 career goals tie him with Carolina's Mark Recchi for 43rd on the all-time list.

Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere had a relatively quiet night, faced just nine shots over the final two periods and finished with 14 saves. He is 10-6-1 with one tie and a 2.19 goals-against average versus Phoenix in his career.

With the loss, the Coyotes fell to 3-7-1 in their last 11 games. Over that span, they have allowed five or more goals seven times.

Coach Wayne Gretzky was upset that his team looked sluggish at times and called for 12 penalties, including seven in the second period.

"They played like a team that was desperate to win and we played like a team that was standing around," Gretzky said. "We had no battle and had no fight. They did the little things that you need to do to win."

Curtis Joseph continued to struggle for Phoenix, dropping to 2-5-1 with a 4.47 GAA and .855 save percentage in his last nine games.

Joseph is 14-13-0 with one tie and a 2.58 GAA against the Ducks in his career.
