DUCKS (13-22-6) at FLAMES (20-19-5)

TV: PRIME (HD), SNET-West (HD)

LAST 10: Anaheim 4-5-1; Calgary 5-4-1

Season Series: This will be the first of four meetings between the two Western Conference foes. Anaheim swept all four games last season, though only the last meeting -- a 4-2 win at Scotiabank Saddledome -- was decided in regulation.

Big Story: Something will have to give when the two teams collide, as both the Ducks and Flames are riding winning streaks and aiming to save face and contend, respectively, in a competitive Western Conference.

Team Scope:

Ducks: Anaheim concluded a six-game homestand on Wednesday by beating Dallas 5-2 for its third straight win after the Ducks dropped the first three games. The biggest reason for the turnaround has been the revival of the offense, which has struggled to score for most of the season. Anaheim scored 16 goals in the three wins -- including three off the stick of center Saku Koivu, who recorded his second career hat trick in the win against the Stars on Tuesday night.

"In my career, it hasn't happened too often, to get three in one game and get a hat trick," he said. "So, I'll take that."

Flames: Calgary owns a winning streak of its own, having beaten Minnesota and New Jersey in consecutive games after stumbling home following losses in the last five games of a seven-game trip. The 6-3 win against New Jersey on Tuesday saw the Flames fire home six goals on just 14 shots, while goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 35 of 38 shots.

The Flames have won eight in a row at home are now 9-0-1 in their last 10 games at Scotiabank Saddledome.

"We've been playing well at home, we've been getting our points here," said defenseman Cory Sarich, who scored one of Calgary's four first-period goals against the Devils. "We've got to keep that going."

Who's Hot: Koivu has been contributing for the Ducks even without his hat trick, as he put up a three-point night the game before and has amassed nine points in his past five games. … Calgary's Curtis Glencross is coming off a four-point night against New Jersey and has two goals and six points in the back-to-back home wins.

Injury Report: The Ducks' George Parros (strained groin) and Jonas Hiller (lower body injury) are listed as day-to-day … Calgary's Alex Tanguay and Matt Stajan are week-to-week with upper body and ankle injuries, while Scott Hannan is day-to-day with an upper body injury. Also, David Moss and Mark Giordano are out indefinitely with leg and foot injuries.

Stat Pack: The Flames are getting plenty of production from their top line. Glencross, Jarome Iginla and Olli Jokinen have scored 28 of Calgary's 57 goals since Dec. 1.

Puck Drop: With Hiller sidelined and backup Dan Ellis on IR with a groin injury, the Ducks had to call up Jeff Deslauriers to make the start on Tuesday. The former Edmonton goalie made 26 saves in his first NHL appearance since April 11, 2010. He figures to play if Hiller still can't go.

"He made the good saves, especially at the beginning of the first period," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "I was wondering how he was going to react. But he held his composure like the team held their composure and we ended up scoring three and winning."
