DUCKS (15-3-2) at COYOTES (10-8-3)
TV: PRIME; FS-A
Last 10: Anaheim 8-1-1; Phoenix 6-3-1
Season series: It's the second of four meetings and the second in three nights at Jobing.com Arena. The Coyotes earned a 5-4 shootout victory against the Ducks on Saturday night.
Big story: Fatigue started to set in for Anaheim on Saturday, playing its fifth game in seven days. However, Bruce Boudreau’s club still found a way to get a point by forcing the contest past regulation. The Coyotes continue to find ways to remain competitive in the incredibly tight Pacific Division. Phoenix has earned points in seven of its past 10 contests.
Ducks: Everyone is contributing in Anaheim, which is the main reason the Ducks find themselves atop the Pacific Division standings. Saturday night, it was Andrew Cogliano’s turn -- the veteran forward scored a hat trick to help his team get yet another point. Cogliano has six goals in his past three games at Jobing.com Arena.
“I can’t really explain it. I felt like our line was playing well and I was shooting the puck and finding the net,” said Cogliano, who has 19 points in 23 career games against Phoenix. “One was a pretty nice shot and then I was in the right spot found a way under (Mike Smith) twice.”
Coyotes: Phoenix saw two key forwards snap out of offensive funks Saturday night. Steve Sullivan ended a 14-game drought, and Lauri Korpikoski found the back of the net after going 10 straight contests without a goal.
“I know how long it’s been since I scored (Jan. 24 at San Jose) and when you go that long you’re rushing and not as confident as you usually are,” Sullivan said. “That what I was brought here to do and it hasn’t been going in, so I felt a lot of pressure. You just keep pushing.”
Who's hot: Ducks forward Saku Koivu scored Saturday night, giving the veteran three goals and three assists in the past five games. … Coyotes forward Mikkel Boedker picked up another assist Saturday. He is 1-5-6 in his past five.
Injury report: Anaheim forward Kyle Palmieri is unlikely to play after suffering an upper-body injury Saturday night. … Phoenix is without two key forwards, Martin Hanzal (upper body) and Radim Vrbata (lower body). They are on injured reserve.
