EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Jarret Stoll got the break he needed to give the Edmonton Oilers an extra point.
Stoll scored 36 seconds into overtime in the Oilers' 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Monday night.
Martin Gerber stopped Igor Ulanov's point shot, but Stoll converted the rebound for his seventh goal of the season.
``I just whacked at it and got a little lucky,'' Stoll said. ``I knew Ullie had the puck and he usually gets it through the defense. I know I'm not going to score many fancy goals. I just crashed the net and was happy to get it.''
Ethan Moreau added a first-period goal for the Oilers, 1-4-1-0 in their last six games. Edmonton is 3-0 against Anaheim this season, and has won 10 straight at home against the Mighty Ducks.
``It was a sharp game for both teams and it took a break for us in overtime to get the win. But we're still a number of wins from feeling any good about ourselves.''
Joffrey Lupul scored for Anaheim, which has gone to overtime in four of its last six contests.
``We played pretty well defensively,'' Gerber said, ``but we didn't get the bounces, the chances. In overtime, it's a question of a team getting an opportunity.''
Moreau opened the scoring early in the first period, and Lupul, an Edmonton native, tied it with 5:07 left in the period.
Ty Conklin stopped 19 shots for the Oilers, and Gerber made 26 saves.
Gerber slid across the crease and got his chest in front of Stoll's point-blank shot late in the first, then stopped Adam Oates and Ales Hemsky from short range on a power play in the second.
Conklin stopped Petr Sykora's slap shot from the slot on an Anaheim power play early in the second, then blocked a pair of backhand attempts by Andy McDonald on another power play.
``He really had a great sequence of saves in the second period when they were on the power play,'' Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said about Conklin. ``He kept the game 1-1 and we capitalized on that.''
