CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Miikka Kiprusoff is back and so is Jarome Iginla's scoring touch _ and together they're proving to be a winning combination.
Iginla scored his 28th goal of the season, and Kiprusoff made 25 saves to lead the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Friday night for their third straight victory.
``We're trying to get on a roll here and we think we've got something started,'' Iginla said. ``We've got a few games on the road now, which will all be tough games, but it's important that we keep this thing going.''
Iginla's goal at 5:07 of the second period put Calgary ahead 2-0 and gave the Flames captain nine goals and four assists in his last seven games. Iginla is now the NHL's fourth-leading goal scorer, three behind leader Rick Nash of Columbus.
In 18 starts, Kiprusoff is 13-3-2 and has given up two goals or less in each of his last 15 games. He sprained his knee at the end of December and missed six weeks but has won both of his starts since returning to action on Tuesday.
``Tonight was a close game, the whole team played great defensively,'' Kiprusoff said. ``A 2-1 win, these are the kinds of games we want to win.''
Jordan Leopold also scored for the Flames, who moved into sole possession of fifth place in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the Dallas Stars. Calgary's 29th victory matched its total from all of last season.
Steve Rucchin replied for the Mighty Ducks, who have just one win in their last nine road games (1-7-0-1). They fell 11 points behind Nashville for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
``This hurts because we need all the points we can get. It's desperation time,'' Ducks center Andy McDonald said.
Kiprusoff made 10 saves in the third period, with his best stop on Ducks defenseman Vitaly Vishnevki's chance from in close. Kiprusoff blocked his sharp rising backhander early in the third.
``We didn't do a good enough job of getting quality scoring chances and getting some guys in front of their goalie,'' Rucchin said. ``He saw most of our shots and the way he's playing this year, he's going to save the puck.''
After falling behind 2-0 on a pair of power-play goals, the Mighty Ducks got on the scoreboard at 7:23 of the second with a power-play goal of their own.
As Rucchin cut through the slot, he fired a high shot that caromed off the net's back bar, then off the goalpost.
The puck came out so fast, it was not ruled a goal initially and play continued for nearly two minutes before the next whistle, when the play was reviewed on replay and ruled a goal.
Iginla made it 2-0 during a two-minute, two-man advantage.
Craig Conroy zipped a cross-ice pass to Iginla, who one-timed a hard slapshot past Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
The goal came with Sergei Fedorov in the box for obstruction hooking and Vaclav Prospal next to him after he was given an unsportsmanlike conduct and a misconduct for arguing Mick McGeough's call on Fedorov.
Calgary opened the scoring at 17:49 of the first, when Leopold lofted a wrist shot from the blue line that eluded Giguere.
