DETROIT (AP) - Chris Osgood is getting accustomed to a new role this season and Nicklas Lidstrom is just doing what he's done for much of his career.

Osgood made 25 saves and Lidstrom had three assists to help the Detroit Red Wings beat the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Henrik Zetterberg, Mathieu Schneider and Kris Draper scored for the Red Wings, who have won four straight and six of seven. Osgood, who has been Manny Legace's backup this season, got his second straight win in his second consecutive start.

Osgood has been a No. 1 goaltender for most of his 13 NHL seasons.

"This year I'm having to learn some different aspects of goaltending," said Osgood, who has played 25 games this season. "Just work hard and wait until you get a chance to play."

Lidstrom won three consecutive Norris Trophies from 2001-03 and many feel he will receive the award that goes to the NHL's top defenseman again this season. He now has 67 points (13 goals and 54 assists) in 64 games after collecting two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in his last eight games.

He complimented Osgood.

"The last two games, he's played strong," Lidstrom said. "He looked confident in there."

Osgood said his toughest save came at the end of a power play late in the second period. He didn't see a screened shot from the point until the last split second and was able to deflect it over the net with his stick.

Teemu Selanne scored for Anaheim, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.

Zetterberg scored on the Red Wings' first shot just a minute into the game, when he beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere with a low wrist shot for his 34th goal.

Schneider made it 2-0 with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 9:15, converting a slap shot from the high slot. It gave him a career-high 21 goals. The defenseman's previous high was 20 with Montreal in 1993-94.

"We didn't want to get down two goals like that early in the game," said Scott Niedermayer. "They came out ready to go and we just weren't jumping like we needed to be. For us to compete with them we need to be going as hard as we can."

Anaheim cut the lead in half with a power-play goal from Selanne with 5:44 left in the opening period. The forward put in a cross-crease pass from Neidermayer for his 29th goal.

"I thought we didn't play 60 minutes, we played about 50 minutes," said Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle.

Draper added an empty-net goal with 9.1 seconds left.

"We found a way to win without having our "A' game," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock.

Notes: Detroit captain Steve Yzerman played in his 1,500th game. ... Selanne stretched his point streak to six games (3-5-8). ... Zetterberg has eight goals and three assists in his last seven games. ... Detroit RW Mikael Samuelsson missed his sixth game with a wrist injury suffered with Sweden during the Olympics.
