Anaheim was denied in its attempt to earn consecutive wins for the first time in nearly two months with a 4-2 road loss to the Blues.

Two nights after topping the rival Kings back at home, the Ducks could not keep that momentum going in their first road game under head coach Bruce Boudreau.

Bobby Ryan continued his recent hot streak with a goal in the first period, which briefly evened the game. The winger now has three tallies in his last two contests and 10 on the season (second on the Ducks).

The middle frame was controlled by St. Louis though, as Ian Cole and T.J. Oshie found the back of the net to put the Ducks down by two entering the final 20 minutes of play.

Rookie Devante Smith-Pelly was able to pull Anaheim within one early into the third period, when he punched in a fluttering puck past Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak. But the Ducks could not capitalize on a couple of big chances to tie the game later in the final stanza. With Jonas Hiller pulled for an extra attacker, Oshie put the game out of reach with his second goal of the night into an empty net.

Anaheim fell to 1-2-1 under coach Bruce Boudreau, who took over for Randy Carlyle on Nov. 29. The club has not earned two wins in a row since reeling off four straight from Oct. 8-17.

St. Louis won for the sixth time in eight games. The Blues have at least one point in 13 of the last 15 games and improved to 10-2-3 under Ken Hitchcock, who took over for Davis Payne on Nov. 6.

The Ducks (8-15-5) will turn their focus to Nashville on Saturday, when they will meet the Predators for the third time this season.

Notes: Anaheim C Saku Koivu suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and did not return. ... Blues C Jason Arnott played in his 1,200th NHL game, becoming the 89th player in league history to do so and sixth active player to reach the milestone. ... Ducks RW Teemu Selanne is fourth on the active list at 1,287 career games. ... Blues D Kevin Shattenkirk was did not play due to flu-like symptoms ... St. Louis picked up its 900th home win in franchise history.
