VANCOUVER -- The Anaheim Ducks gave several of their top forwards the night off.

Most of the Vancouver Canucks just took the first two periods off.

With nothing to gain for either team after clinching division titles three days earlier, Jonas Hiller made 19 of his 28 saves in the third period and Anaheim survived a wild finish shorthanded for a 3-1 victory over Vancouver on Thursday night, in the Ducks' road finale.

The win gave the Ducks a 14-5-5 record on the road this season, clinching the best road winning percentage in team history.

Jason Garrison converted a 5-on-3 power play with 3:18 left to close the gap and the Canucks finished the game on the power play after Ducks defenseman Sheldon Souray caught Alexandre Burrows with a high stick while killing the first penalty. But after pulling Roberto Luongo to create a 6-on-4, Hiller stopped Alexander Edler’s blast from the point shot and Andrew Cogliano fired the rebound into the empty net at the other end with 27.4 seconds left.

Matt Beleskey and Brad Staubitz also scored for the Ducks, who won despite resting four key forwards after clinching the Pacific Division on Monday.

After being outplayed badly in the early going, the Canucks rallied in the third period, outshooting the Ducks 20-5. But they couldn’t put the tying goal past Hiller, snapping an eight-game win streak at Rogers Arena.

Luongo, playing perhaps his final home game with Cory Schneider day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, made with 28 saves for the Canucks, who left their top three lines intact after securing the Northwest Division on Monday.

Forwards Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu and Radek Dvorak got the night off, as did defenseman Bryan Allen. The Ducks were also missing Bobby Ryan (flu) and Luca Sbisa (lower body), but still managed to outplay the Canucks early.

Anaheim outshot Vancouver 11-5 in the first period, forcing Luongo to make a handful of good saves to keep it scoreless. The Ducks kept it coming in the second period, scoring twice while outshooting the Canucks 14-4.

Beleskey opened the scoring on a power play 6:44 into the second period, parking in front of Luongo and deflecting Cam Fowler’s one-timer from the point past his glove. Staubitz, who was a healthy scratch for 10 of the previous 11 games, doubled the lead two shots later, putting a shot past Luongo’s glove from the edge of the right circle for his first goal of the season.

Vancouver woke up to start the third period, doubling its shot total with nine in the first eight minutes, but Hiller made his best save on Dan Hamhuis alone in front, before the late penalties ended his bid for a second shutout this season.
