DETROIT -- Despite a 46-save effort from Jonas Hiller, the Ducks return to Anaheim in a 2-2 series after the Red Wings won 3-2 in overtime in Game 4 on Monday night.

Anaheim got goals from Matt Beleskey and David Steckel in the loss. For Beleskey, it was his second goal and third point of the series.

Damien Brunner scored the OT goal at 15:10 of overtime, giving the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win at Joe Louis Arena in Game 4. The rookie forward buried a rebound that trickled away from Hiller after he made the initial save.

The Ducks held a 2-1 lead midway through the third period when Steckel converted on a rebound attempt in front of Howard.

After a Kyle Palmieri shot, Detroit defenseman Brian Lashoff fell into goaltender Jimmy Howard, and Steckel had plenty of net to work with on the rebound.

Pavel Datsyuk scored his first goal of the series at 13:27 of the third to tie the game again. Datsyuk carried the puck into the offensive zone on the left wing and snapped a shot under the crossbar.

Before that goal, the Red Wings had only one point at even strength (and three total) from Datsyuk and captain Henrik Zetterberg.

Matt Beleskey collected the lone goal of the opening period. Seconds after a mad scramble in front of Hiller, the puck ended up on Smith's stick, but between his partner Kyle Quincey's feet.

Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano took the puck away from them and fed Beleskey in front. Howard stopped his first shot and Beleskey fanned on the second backhand try, but he turned a snapped the puck into the net on his third attempt.

It was Beleskey's second goal of the series. The Ducks have also received two goals from Nick Bonino and one each from Steckel, Emerson Etem and Kyle Palmieri.

Neither team scored in the middle period, but Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau did switch his lines during the middle frame. He put Steckel between top-line wings Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry for three shifts, and put his captain Ryan Getzlaf next to Etem and either Palmieri or Beleskey. That experiment ended after Smith scored for the Red Wings.

Hiller only needed to make 23 saves for a shutout in Game 3, but he had more work in Game 4. The Swiss netminder made 27 saves in first 40 minutes alone. The Wings had more sustained pressure in the third, and they made it count with the two goals.

Zetterberg had Detroit's best chance of the first two periods when a rebound came right to him in the slot, but Anaheim defenseman Ben Lovejoy got his stick in the way and the Zetterberg's attempt missed the net.

Anaheim took a 2-1 lead in this series based largely on special-teams play. The Ducks scored twice on the power play in a 3-1 victory in Game 1, and had two extra-man markers and a shorthanded tally in a 4-0 triumph in Game 3. Detroit had the better of the special teams in a 5-4 overtime win in Game 2, scoring its final three goals with the man advantage.

The Ducks failed to score on the power play in Game 4, going 0-for-3.

Through the first three games of the series, both teams spent considerable time in the penalty box. Game 4, however, was an even-strength affair. There were only four minor penalties assessed in the contest.
